Finally, the last days take you to Songpan, a historic stronghold on the ancient Tea Horse Road, and then to the emblematic sites of Huanglong and Jiuzhaigou, famous for their travertine pools and surreal-coloured lakes, before a comfortable high-speed train journey back to Chengdu. To acclimatize, spend your first days in Chengdu (~500 m) before ascending. Stay hydrated, avoid strenuous physical activities upon arrival in high-altitude areas, and consider consulting a physician about medications such as acetazolamide.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Luggage: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pack clothing in layers.
